What CPD do registered migration agents need in Australia?

CPD points from approved activities each registration year. OMARA approves the providers and sets the points per activity, so for this profession the regulator's approval is what counts.

Where a verification mark fits

This is a profession where the regulator approves providers. OMARA's approval is the one that counts for points, and CPD Council's mark is not a substitute for it. A provider may hold both. The mark then tells the agent how the content was made: who wrote it, who reviewed it, how the hours were set and when it expires.

Providers must not describe CPD Council verification as OMARA approval. Mark rules, rule 3.

More: approved, accredited, endorsed, verified: what each word claims.

Questions

What CPD do registered migration agents need in Australia?

CPD points from approved activities each registration year. The Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA) approves the providers and sets the points per activity. Agents should check OMARA's current requirements before re-registering.

Does CPD Council verification count for migration agent CPD?

No. For migration agents, OMARA's approval of the provider is what counts for points. CPD Council's mark is not a substitute for it. A provider may hold OMARA approval and CPD Council verification at the same time; the mark then says how the content was made.

CPD Council is not a regulator. Approved migration CPD providers can also apply for free verification of how their content is made.
