Mark rules

The mark says "Peer reviewed. Verified." and links to a public record. These rules keep that sentence true wherever the mark appears.

Draft for legal reviewPublished in draft so members and applicants can see them. A lawyer-reviewed version, aligned with any certification trade mark application, replaces this page.
1Link

The mark always links to the member's register record

On screen, the mark is a link to cpdcouncil.com.au/member-name. In print, the record address or the register number appears beneath it.

2Scope

Only on activities listed as verified

The activity mark appears only on activities that are on the member's record with a status of Verified or Review due. It comes off within 14 days of an activity expiring or being withdrawn. The provider mark comes off within 14 days of the membership ceasing to be verified.

3Words

"Verified against the CPD Council Standard"

Members may say: verified, peer reviewed, verified against the CPD Council Standard, CPD Council member, register number CC-0000. Members may not say: accredited, approved, endorsed, recognised, government approved, regulator endorsed, or anything implying that CPD Council is a regulator or that a regulator has approved the activity.

4Form

Not recoloured, stretched or rebuilt

Use the files supplied in the brand kit or the live badge. Minimum 30 mm in print and 130 px on screen; below that, the symbol alone. Teal and amber are not changed and not blended.

5Placement

Where it may appear

Certificates, activity pages, the member's website, brochures and email signatures for the verified brands. Not on activities of brands that are not on the record, and not on another organisation's material without that organisation also being a member.

6Live badge

Prefer the live badge on the web

The embed shows the current status and cannot go stale. If an image is used instead, the member is responsible for removing it within the 14 days.

7Misuse

What happens when the rules are broken

First, a written notice with 14 days to fix. Then suspension, published on the register. Then withdrawal. Use of the mark by an organisation that is not a member is listed publicly on the register as misuse after one written demand to stop, and may be pursued as a trade mark matter.

8Ownership

The mark belongs to CPD Council

Membership is a licence to use it under these rules, not a transfer. The licence ends when membership ends. Trade mark applications in Australia and New Zealand are in progress; numbers on filing.
